Waypoint : Cultivating Inclusive College Ministry
Welcome to Waypoint!
You’re likely here because you’re trying to find the next step on your path. Maybe you recently started leading young adults and are looking for support. Perhaps you are considering other expressions of Christian faith and wondering what that means for your ministry. Or you might have done this for years and are ready for fresh ideas. Regardless of how you found us, we’re glad you’re here!
The Waypoint Project is designed for folks curious about college ministry in its many shapes - whether you serve through a church or a campus ministry, formally trained or learning as you go, beginners and veterans - who are on the journey of leading, serving, and caring for young adults in their formative college years. We’re a support center for anyone searching for guidance, suggestions, and affirmation as they pursue college ministry in their backyard.
You may be wondering, “What is a waypoint?” A waypoint is a landmark along a journey, a place that helps you get your bearings and see where to go next. Physical markers like a unique tree, desert spring, or butte are all waypoints - they tell you where you are and your next step. Throughout history, waypoints have been how humans traveled from place to place. In the modern era, GPS allows humans to access this information through set coordinates of latitude and longitude - helpful for people traveling by land, sea, or air!
The Waypoint Project exists to provide landmarks for you on your College Ministry journey. Wherever you find yourself, we are here to help assess your landscape and offer prospects for where your next step might be.
Waypoint grew out of a desire to support leaders building inclusive Christian communities. Often folks leading these ministries have to search far and wide for resources to inform their work, or adapt from other traditions. We believe that if you are working to create space for all people in your ministry, you deserve relevant, insightful, and practical support, and that’s why we’re here.
Jenna and I (Austin) are here to help fellow travelers catch their bearings through blogs I write, resources like small group curriculum guides, retreat materials, and leadership development content. I’m also offering coaching and brainstorming to provide feedback and help problem solve. I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I can certainly be a waypoint for your journey!
Waypoint is personal to us.
We’re genuinely so glad you’re here.
We hope Waypoint becomes a place you return to for fresh ideas, encouragement, and help finding your next step.
